Help, urgently, please!

I have set up my new Panasonic DMRES20 as per the manual, but have a
problem - I cannot watch Sky programmes when recording anything, and
unless I switch the DVD machine on and tune it to AV2 I dont get an RGB
from the Sky box.

The satellite decoder is connected to AV2 on the DVD machine, and AV1
goes to the TV as per the manual.

With my old set up, the decoder was in between the recorder (vcr) and
the tv in the chain, meaning if I wanted to record something (eg BBC1
analogue) I could do that and still watch the satellite.

I cannot believe that it is not possible to watch a satellite programme
when recording something from the aerial using this unit, but connected
this way it seems so. I can find no mention in the manual if AV1 on the
DVD recorder has RGB in for if I connected it as I used to have the
vcr, and furthermore I have no idea without trying it if the Grundig
digibox has RGB in on the AV2 which would be vital for playing DVDs. I
suspect the latter is unlikely

One possible solution occurred to me, namely to take the second AV from
the decoder and plug it into AV2 on the tv, but that has my vcr in it
now and I need it.

Does anyone else have this unit, or any suggestions as to what I am
doing wrong. As I said, I really cannot believe that it is not possible
to watch a satellite programme when recording something from the
aerial.
