I have to disagree with part of that....
I was watching my divx tv downloads on my xbox using xbmc, connected via
progressive scan compontents to my Panasonic TV....I found it perfectly
acceptable, until I upgraded my DVD player to a Pioneer 575 for its divx
capability. It too was connected by components, but the picture quality was
a marked improvement over xbmc, which went blocky in very dark scenes and on
the whole was a bit grainy. I also have a Philips DVP620, which also played
divx better than the XBOX did.

This could be due to out of date codecs etc on xbmc, as I have not updated
it since about early September. It may have improved now.

What I have found is that some of the true HD divx downloads wont play in my
dvd players atall, but will in the xbox though. Also, I dont have to run the
divx files through mpeg modifier to play them on the xbox (I dont think).
