Morning all,

As you might have spotted I am now the proud owner of the LG 32" HD LCD.

It is working quite nicely with my Sky box (SCART) and trusty old Pioneer 656a DVD
player (3x phono component), but it doesn't give as good a picture as the demo in
the shop. I suspect they are using an upscaling (upsampling) DVD player - the LG
brand of course via HDMI.

Question : In your mulitudinous experiences, is it a good bet to buy one of these
upsampling players and use HDMI, or let the TV do the upsampling job via component
phonos from the 656a ?

I'm currently looking at the Sammy HD950, which ALSO has DVD-Audio and SACD
capabilities, and by all accounts is a pretty good audio CD player too - that *is*
where the Pioneer falls down a bit TBH.

So, should I get one now at about £100 ish, or wait the long wait for the smart
suits to figure out which format is gonna win (HD/BluRay)?

Alternatively, has anyone spotted a DVD Recorder which has upsampling and DVD-Audio?
Our VHS died when I reassembled the system !

TIA,

DH
