Ken:
Womble will convert video/audio just fine. I am confused by the OP.
Did he *author* it to the DVD or just burn to a DVD. If the latter,
then he needs to use TDA or some other authoring program. The OP
didn't say if he renamed the Womble output back to .vob. That could
cause problems. ???
A couple of points about Womble for the OP:
1) .vob files should be loaded into Womble as .vob files. One
shouldn't rename the extension to .mpg. That can only be confusing if
the .vob has any special features. As a matter of fact, that may be
what caused the your problem. ??? Every one of the DVD-R's seem to be
a little bit different.
2) If converting audio, Womble can make mpeg-1/mpeg-2 DVD compatible or
SVCD compatible. (48khz or 44.1khz) One must be sure to pay attention
as it is easy to set it wrong.
Very often I will change the ac-3 to mpa and burn to DVD as mpa. This
is especially true when combining different sources. I still haven't
run across any NTSC dvd players that won't play mpa audio.
3) It is easy to demux (and remux) in Womble. Did you check the
original for audio?
4) Womble won't play or recode the ac-3 audio, but it will properly
pass it on as does VR.
5) I love Womble and recommend it, but like Ken I use VideoRedo, TDA,
(then DvdShrink/DvdDecrypter for burning) when doing this type of
process.
(Did it the other evening on the premiere of Night Stalker. Didn't
expect much, but it surprised me with very good direction, writing,
acting, editing, creepiness, and story telling. A good follow up to
the original Night Stalker with Darren McGavin which is available on
DVD and itself is considered a cult classic. If one watched closely,
McGavin as the original Kolchak was in the news room thanks to video
editing magic. Also, his hat was on a stand in the new Kolchak's
apartment. This one was a keeper!)
Cheers...
Mark
