Plus you have the slight problem that no stand-alone DVD recorder yet
exists that will record 5.1, they all will only record in analogue
stereo and then convert it to DD2.0. Philips kept promising to do one
but it never materialised in Europe and was quickly dropped after a
very short lifespan in the USA.

Plus the actual bit rate of the entire enterprise is somewhat lower than
an averge shop bought DVD, so the picture will always be softer. Still
a whole heap better than anything we've have before, mind, so still
worth having.
