Yeah, it's not fair and yeah things should be better, but there are many
online companies where you'd still be waiting for them to _agree_ to take it
back even at this stage.

I haven't used Empire Direct, but at least they have taken action and also
agreed to refund. That is a big step in the right direction.

Also, again not ideal, but most companies can (and do) hide behind the ole
"procedure" excuse, refunding only at the end of the month -or even at the
end of the _following_ month.
Either way, since Empire Direct _have_ agreed to refund, it is no longer
your problem. Keep an eye on it by all means, but if they don't refund you,
your credit card will. ...And that's whether you have that 'voucher' you
mentioned or not.
Just print out the email(s) where Empire Direct agree to collect and agree
to refund, along with a copy of the courier collection docket and send that
to your cc company with the relevant forms.
....*if* you don't get the refund.

Wait a couple of weeks. If no action is taken, contact your cc company and
ask for the forms to make a claim. I'm sure ED will refund you by then
though.
