I think not, unless the films were _very_ early. Look at 1939's "Gone
with the Wind" which was beautifully done. Then look at "Blair Witch"
done with modern, but inexpensive, video cameras. The question is,
what's your objective?
If you're going to spend $1000 pick up a Sony TRV-900 on eBay. Many
posts here refer to sub $1000 cameras as a waste of money for a serious
video enthusiast.
