Sorry if this has been posted before but I have done a Google and failed to
come up with conclusive advice. I have every confidence that the regular
posters here will cure that discrepancy!
I make documentary style productions of wildlife/country subjects. I
acquire on a PD150 and must now go non-linear. (Yeah, I know!<g>). The end
product will be DVDs (with multi-language subtitles accessed through a
menu) for sell-through. Presumably, I need to produce a finished master to
hand to my duplicators.
I have decided to buy a package rather than do a self-build (I am computer
illiterate) and have been recommended to go for a system running Avid
Xpress DV with Ulead DVD Workshop. As this comes from a reputable company,
I'm assuming the hardware will be up to the mark. Budget is around 1,500 -
2,000.
Broadly, I do not need an editing suite capable of creating advertisements
for TV. My most successful production was cuts only! But it would be nice
to be able to do dissolves. As I've stated, I am a technophobe. :(
Is the above going to cut it, or do you know better?
