hi all. i have been taking some video clips at 30p/60i on mini DV from
various cameras and then capturing those clips in Liquid Edition 6.0 with a
panasonic consumer grade camera (which i have been told isn't an issue
because mini DV is mini DV and any mini DV camera reads it properly) through
firewire and what i am experiencing is that the clips look fine in the mini
DV cameras viewfinder, they look fine in Liquid Editions prveviewer, and
they look fine when the camera output RCA is hooked up to a TV . . BUT . .
when loaded into Liquid Edition 6 and the timeline material is output to DVD
the video image itself looks fine but when the lens was zoomed in/out or the
camera panned at all, the image is jumpy in steps and looks like it's
racheting in steps instead of smooth - - it's almost like frames (or groups
of frames) were missed or omitted. not only is it very noticable but very
distracting and ceratainly not presentable for broadcast usage which is the
output format that we need for several of our TV broadcast studios.

if this is the expected performance with digital mini DV we're going to go
back to betacams and 'live production' instead of digital/post. :o( (the
latter would be most preferrable)

anyone have any thoughts on this?

thanks in advance for all your help folks.
