It depends on your software, but most will store the data as a
DV-codec-encoded .avi file. "Capture" is a bit of a misnomer when talking
about DV-25. The camera actually transfers the video to the computer as
data, just like any other file transfer. The result is a bit-for-bit copy
of what's on the tape. AVI is really a wrapper that can hold all sorts of
data. The data stream could really be stored as almost anything but, as I
said, most software will save it as DV-coded-encoded AVI.
