Around here in the community colleges, the FCP classes are always full,
not so much the other software packages. At our local FCP users group,
we're getting a surprising number of users from the local government
shops (including public utilities, city government, etc) ALL seem to be
switching to FCP.
I suspect you'll be very safe with your choice.
But by all means call around your community and find out what the
serious players are using. Particularly the folks who are "downsizing"
from the previsous generations needlessly expensive AVID systems, etc.
