Hi all,
I need to record directly to my XP laptop using USB streaming for now. I can
easily stream video from my Samsung SCD107 miniDV (using either Win Movie
Maker or the crappy proprietary Samsung DVC media 5.1 capture software), but
I get NO audio via USB streaming. I do get audio thru the laptops mic ins,
but the built in sound card (Ali audio wave) is, of course, crap, therefore
the sound is crap too. I get no audio with the same mic plugged into the
camera. The problem is not the camera's built-in mic - I can hear that
working when I plug headphones into the camera's a/v jack.
I must have the audio - video is secondary. Using an external mic pre is not
an option. I need to stay simple and portable.
When I've recorded to tape using the Samsung, the audio is much better. But
the SCD107 now won't record to tape - I keep getting a "protection!' message
even tho the tapes do NOT have the write protect tabs engaged, and nothing I
do in the menu can change anything. I believe the camera was damaged during
a jet flight, perhaps by static, or mechanical impact.
AFAIK, the samsung usb capture drivers are installed properly, I'm running
Directx9.0a, Win media player 9. I've tried all the controls on the built-in
windows volume control (I2S - [what's that?] - line, mic, cd audio, aux,
video, phone, stereo mix, mono mix) but I get no audio recorded (nor showing
on the meters in Win movie maker) during USB streaming.
Am I lacking an audio codec? Does USB video streaming simply not stream
audio? Will I need to use firewire (both cam and laptop have it)? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...
