Thanks to all of you for your great suggestions and references. I now have
several options to consider, and am beginning to appreciate why these items
can be so expensive. I had not considered the stability with respect to the
ground and the way the tripod dissipates energy and vibration. Since I have
no local dealers who sell or stock tripods in the professional league, I
will go through the referenced web sites and do some further research, but
it becoming very clear that I need to re-consider my original budget as part
of this process. Again...thank you for your help.
