You might want to do some reading about typical contract arrangements
between performers, songwrites, and music companies.

The songwriters rarely get paid.

When you go see "Narnia" this Christmas, and if you hear the industry
bitterly complain about pirated copies depriving the "creator of the
work" of his proper due, keep in mind that not a single living relative
of C. S. Lewis will ever receive a penny from the film or any related
products.
