Well, maybe things have changed a lot in the last couple of years, but
in the old days, record companies used to be accused-- accurately-- of
paying off the radio station to play the music.

But I believe that they do pay, nowadays, but I think they are being
stupid and don't realize that if they refused, and only played music by
independent artists who were willing to allow them to play their music
for free--- within a few years, we would have different "stars".
