New info, I've found that it happens when playing an analog tape through the
cam. This model plays analog tapes as well as Dig8. Everything is fine when
viewing on the camera's onboard LCD screen.
So, it appears there's something about the analog/digital conversion process
and the resulting output from the cam's Firewire port that's causing this.
Hmmm...
So, the question is, what could be different about the output from a tape
made in Dig8 mode and an analog tape that's played out from the cam or a
passthrough signal?
