Er - it could be "movies" if the footage derives from more than one movie,
or, perhaps, it is meant to read movie's footage as in "the footage of the
movie".
And it's "to whom do "they" refer?"

Well, Mr. Syntactically Correct, IT'S VIDEOS - not video's. You make the
apostrophe mistake rather frequently. Given your derision of Americans for
using "thru", I assume you do not profess to using the American form of
English. If so, then you frequent placement of a comma immediately
following "and" is incorrect.
So, before you chastise other people who are more/less fortunate than you by
virtue of their mother tongue, get your own house in order.
