Both of those seem like viable options. Not clear why
recording with camera would affect whatever sync
problems exist in the real world.

Another option might be to use a telephone pickup
and feed the telephone audio into the computer so
that it is captured along with the screen content (if
using Camtasia or equivalent. etc.)
