I am very interested to see if the comparison occurs, and what the results
are. My Ulead experience with the more recent versions has been very
favorable. With the exception of iMovieHD which is unquestionably the most
intuitive and easy to use HDV editing program out there (but requires a
Mac), Ulead VS9 is now comparably simple to use. I too have been doing
multimedia since the Amiga, Atari 800, and Videoworks / Moviemaker /
Hypercard era, and Ulead's product seems very straight forward with the
exception of cut edits, which I readily admit need more work to simplify.
I have been less enthusiastic about Pinnacle products since so many people
have posted problems on this and other newsgroups, and my own experience has
been similarly mixed. The HDV editing on Video Studio 9 is remarkably fast,
and totally blows away Final Cut Pro HD, Vegas 6, and iMovie HD in my own
speed comparisons. This more than any other reason makes VS9 especially
compelling for HDV use, IMHO, since the HDV performance of the other
products requires substantial dual processor / dual core hardware to work
without major stutters.
