PINNACLE STUDIO 10 USERS REVIEWS:
http://www.amazon.com/
WASTE OF MONEY, November 13, 2005
I have used several consumer-grade video
editing software titles over the years.
When I wanted to upgrade from Nero 6 I
saw how Pinnacle included a green screen
and thought it would be a good value.
I was wrong.
The software did not install easily.
Once installed it wanted to upgrade
itself, but it crashes when it does this.
So I manually downloaded the patch and
was up and running again. Then another
patch comes along. After installing the
2nd patch it tells me I don't have a
valid serial number and it forces me
to re-install the software. So I can't
use the patch.
These are the kind of flaws I'd expect
from a cut-rate software, not something
priced on par with better developer's
software.
And this software needs some patches.
It will hang up frequently, and will
stop displaying scenes as it fills up
my RAM. Yet I have 1G of RAM and 5G of
virtual RAM set up on my machine.
I have been able to create some projects
with this software, but if I hadn't already
been soaked for $130 I'd replace it in a
heartbeat.
POORLY DESIGNED, MALFUNCTIONING,
RESOURSE(sic) HOG,
November 9, 2005
This software comes with four cds but
Pinnacle only put three in a cd sleeve,
leaving the fourth to be banged around
during shipment and arrived highly scratched.
During the installation process you are
prompted to install the 3rd cd but fails
to install. I had to manually install the
3rd disk and then go back to the main
install program to finish. That installation
is for Studio Plus 10 only. The MediaSuite
portion is contained on the 4th cd.
After starting this installation,
it refused to recognise the previous
Studio Plus 10 installation (a requirement)
and exits. A problem that Pinnacle is
currently working on.
THE PROGRAM IS BARELY OUT ON THE SHELF
AND WE'RE UP TO THREE PATCHES SO FAR.
All this combined with a 90+ minute install,
cd-key PLUS online activation, lengthy start
time and the fact that the MediaSuite portion
is dead-out-of-the-box makes this software a
definate waste of money.
CAN'T BE INSTALLED AND INACCESSABLE(sic)
TECH SUPPORT
November 12, 2005
When I attepted to install the Studio 10
package it asks for a Serial number, but
there is none. On their web site, they
claim that there is a yellow slip of paper
with the number on it, but there is no such
thing. Their tech support requires that you
register with them, which you can't do without
a serial number. Bogus. Finally, their non-800
number telephone support has a wait time of
over 30 minutes. Can this be worth it?
DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE,

It is complete junk! Had version 8, it had
it's troubles, but worked pretty well.
Avoided 9 due to poor reviews. Bought 10
(a big mistake). Takes forever to load,
and after it is loaded, does not work well
at all! Hopefully some updates will come
soon to make this software usable.
DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!
WARNING-DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
OR TIME ON THIS SOFTWARE
October 12, 2005
While this product advertises a rich list
of features, it is so full of bugs that even
a technically savvy general consumer wouldn't
be able to use this product satisfactorily.
The program launches very slowly, the program
responds very slowly when it is finally running,
the Bonus DVD does not load, video playback is
choppy, and on my machine the video playback
lacked sound.
Also, Pinnacle's support has to be the worst
in the business. Their online help is difficult
to navigate and provides little information
that is helpful. When submitting a question
by email their response times are very slow
(24-48 hours to get a response) and when you
do get a response it is cryptic at best.
If you call their support desk, you only
get one phone call. All calls after the
initial call cost $25. Pretty sad
considering their product doesn't
even work when you load it on your
machine. Finally, their technical
support is only opened 12 hours a
day Monday-Friday, so good luck
reaching them.
I have asked for a refund, but because
their technical support team still
wants to try to resolve the issues
they won't grant me one. They want
to waste hours of my time trying
to fix a piece of software that
is obviously a piece of junk and
wasn't properly tested before it
was released.
Don't make my mistake and waste
your money. The headache just
isn't worth it.
