The time estimate is done with the current frame. I believe. If it is a
large number of layers than FCP probably assumes the entire project is the
same complexity. If you start on simple frames and there are more complex
frames in your timeline the estimate will change. But I suspect you have
another problem.
Isn't that a very poor solution for a Pro program? Render it in pieces?
Sheesh. Maybe one of the FCP zealots here can point you in another
direction.
