This is from a description of Vegas Video: 
"Version 6 also reduces complex project render times on multiprocessor,  
HT, and multicore systems. Network rendering saves time by using  
multiple computers and networked drive arrays." 
 
This about Premiere: 
"It supports multiple-processor and hyper-threaded systems" 
 
I'm pretty sure most pro or prosumer level video editing programs can  
use multiple processors to good advantage.
