As I understand your question, no. It sounds like you want to use the
NLE as the source and the 45 as the destination. By insert edit, I
presume you mean audio/video/sync, via IEEE1394?
If you mean hitting record/play, sure. If you mean a true insert (as
you would do in a linear system, presuming control track), I don't
think so. As I read the manual, you can do just audio insert, or
straight record. (Then again, isn't ALL DV recording technically
insert???)
But you might ask Sony at 800-883-6817. Takes a while to get a person,
but they can answer anything.
