We are starting to see blatant counterfeiting and rip-offs
of commercial products which are manufactured in certain
countries where copyrights, patents, and respect for contracts
is not practiced at the level we expect in the West. There are
other examples of obvious part-for-part "copies" sometimes
produced on the same assembly line and possibly even with
parts paid for by the name-brand manufacturer. Short term
benefit for bargain hunters, but long-term not very good for
business and innovation. This is discussed with some
regularity over on the audio newsgroups.
