 No shareware comes to mind. I use Adobe Aftereffects.
 I think the "standard version" is under $1000, and the
 "Pro Bundle" is over $1000. I can't recall the price
 I bought it a very long time ago, but just paid $200
 for the upgrade. Combustion is also  popular, and
 there are others much more expensive.
 
 If you are a student, you can get Aftereffects much
 cheaper. There are also less expensive (or free)
 little programs that do specific effects (morphing
 for example). Most of what can be done in a
 compositing program like AE can also be done
 in a 3D program, but it is harder to set up.
