good points raised by Ed about sound that I have to consider. Mark, I
am also not sure how much extra hard drive space I will need if I edit
on HDV versus SD, but I think it will be manageable.

Richard, can you tell me which model of Beachtek you are talking about?

What I'm thinking now is that I will get the HDR-HC1 instead of the A1
and buy that Beachtek adaptor that provides a preamp and phantom power.
I anticipate that a lot of my footage will be shot MOS, just grabbing
images, so it would be good to be able to pull out that small camera
when I need to just get images, and then to slap the all-in-one
Beachtok onto it and plug in a mic when I need to get proper sound.
