Doc,

Perhaps the switch to Intel will get Apple some (badly needed) speed
increase, but for the time being the HDV rendering is just intolerable.
Apple's solution is to install an Xserve rendering farm with multiple
machines to distribute the rendering over 2 or more Macs, with the attendant
expense and complexity. I think your solution makes a lot more sense.
