Luis,
The TRV900 is a hard camera to replace since in some (many) people's opinion
the successors like the TRV950 were a significant step down. The Sony VX2100
is a nice step up, but is larger and more expensive than the 900 was.
If you have some interest in future creation of HD content, the latest Sony
HDV camcorders are another option. The 3 CCD HDV model (HDR-FX1) is now
around $2500 and has garnered excellent reviews. The lesser, 1 CMOS Sony HDV
camcorder is a lot less expensive, but is much more compact and more like
the TRV900 in size. It has relatively poor low light performance
unfortunately, but is otherwise a very nice camera for the money,
particularly if eventual HD recording is of interest to you.
I switched from the TRV900 to the FX1 and have had no regrets whatsoever.
The DV and HDV performance are superb, and the extra size has presented no
problem for me despite the fact that the FX1 is considerably bulkier than
the 900 it replaced.
