Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of CARLITO'S WAY: ULTIMATE EDITION,
CINDERELLA: PLATINUM EDITION, THE COMPLETE THIN MAN COLLECTION, THE GIRL
IN THE CAFE, HOUSE OF D, MASCULIN FEMININ: CRITERION COLLECTION, ME AND
YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW, MY SUMMER OF LOVE, THE PIXIES: SELL OUT, TOMMY
BOY: HOLY SCHNIKE EDITION, VERONICA MARS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, and
THE WARRIORS: ULTIMATE DIRECTOR'S CUT:

CARLITO'S WAY: ULTIMATE EDITION (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall
score 84/100):
"Carlito's Way is full of award-worthy performances and dramatic tension
expertly crafted by De Palma, and for any unfair knocks about this being
a largely recycled production, this is an excellent film. Its emotional
depth far outweighs its 'predecessor,' and stands on its own merits."

CINDERELLA: PLATINUM EDITION (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
score 95/100):
"A genuinely heartwarming experience, this Cinderella has established
its place in the fairy-tale pantheon; for better or worse, it simply is
the story of Cinderella for countless viewers."

THE COMPLETE THIN MAN COLLECTION (reviewed by Bryan Byun, overall
score 81/100):
"That breezy dismissal of anything resembling adult responsibility or
moral consequences is key to The Thin Man's eternal appeal. This movie
is Tom Sawyer for grownups, a celebration of bad behavior, and the
ultimate escapist fantasy for Depression-era audiences."

THE GIRL IN THE CAFE (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall score
89/100):
"The movie works because of Nighy and Macdonald. They have a natural
charm that Michael Douglas and Annette Bening, with their star power
and standing, couldn't match in similar situations. As Lawrence, the
tall actor is constantly making himself small, trying to fade into
the woodwork. Macdonald gets some improbable, heavy-handed speeches
as Gina (who would have been humiliated into silence very quickly in
real life)."

HOUSE OF D (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall score 85/100):
"In his first indie film outing, Duchovny succeeded in his apparent,
unstated goal: to make viewers begin to forget him as Fox Mulder."

MASCULIN FEMININ: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 93/100):
"Since our protagonists are young, and still capable of life
affirming/condemning changes, Godard sees the events that occur in
Masculin Feminin like life training school, the course you have to pass
once graduation is over and maturity comes calling. How we respond says
more about our future than we would like to believe."

ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 90/100):
"If you're the type of person who would run from a woman with a hope
chest and a digital camera searching for her Prince Charming while
spouting poetry about her shoes, then you'll want to ankle away from
this film the second it starts."

MY SUMMER OF LOVE (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 98/100):
"It isn't flashy. It isn't crammed with stars. It doesn't even have much
of a plot. Nonetheless, My Summer of Love made me thank heaven I'm a
critic who gets to watch films like this."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/mysummerlove.php

THE PIXIES: SELL OUT (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 92/100):
"The Pixies were perhaps the oddest band ever to achieve off-the-radar
God status. Certainly, their music was the most mysterious. A crazy
combination of noise and nuance, pop efficiency, and extraterrestrial
lyricism, they seemed at once the most experimental of groups as well as
one that was deceptively primordial."

TOMMY BOY: HOLY SCHNIKE EDITION (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall
score 82/100):
"The dynamic between Farley and Spade is great, with Spade's
caustic remarks playing to a willing target. Even in moments of
remote sincerity, they almost pull it off, which for a comedy is
refreshing to see."

VERONICA MARS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Joel Pearce,
overall score 95/100):
"The teen cast is impulsive, uncertain, and frustrated, and watching
them interact is almost uncomfortably reminiscent of high school. This
could be a drawback for viewers who forget how it feels to be a teen,
but it's an impressive feat to those able to remember with immediacy the
uncertainty of teenage life."

THE WARRIORS: ULTIMATE DIRECTOR'S CUT (reviewed by Adam Arseneau,
overall score 94/100):
"Though obviously not intended to be at the time, this film has become
an odd sort of comfort food for a great many people; a strange campy
nostalgic romp through the dark streets of New York, filled with
lavishly dressed gangs, uniformly nameless police officers, a total
absence of private citizens, and more slow-motion shots of bodies hurled
through wooden doors than you can shake a baseball bat at."
