Well, all DVD players should have some kind of "downmix" option in their
settings. It's different from player to player, so you would have to be more
specific about the brand. My suggestion is that you reffer your user manual
and look for 'Sound' or 'Audio' or similar setting in your DVD players
options screen and see what you can find there. There should be some kind of
DD>Stereo Downmix option. But like I wrote, it's very different from player
to player. Some players are simply crap.

Of course, the best downmixing tool is a good A/V receiver that you set to
"Stereo" instead of "DD", which causes all DD5.1 sources being automatically
downmixed to stereo - properly too!. From my experience, the downmixing
functions built in the DVD-player itself can be pretty crappy - especially
the voice part.
