This is the equipment I have:
Onkyo TX-SR601 receiver
Onkyo DV-CP701 6 carusel changer
JVC tape player
Polk Audio 6700 5 satellite speakers
Polk PSW202 powered subwoofer
2 zone 2 speakers in another room
LiteOn DVD all write recorder model 5005.
Sony 55" TV.
I had a LiteOn connected to this system for 1 year and had no problem
and did not update the firmware.
Two months ago bought a new LiteON 5005 manufactured June 2005. As soon
as I hooked up the LiteOn, and the electric went to it nothing happened.
When I go to record, the subwoofer hums and I get a slight hiss in the
background.
When I go to playback the hum is still there if I have the subwoofer on.
I called LiteOn and they had not heard of the problem but since I just
got it from Circuit City to return it for another one.
The second one, same hum, so I returned that one.
I connected the original one again and it works perfectly.
I really wanted the same brand so I ordered another one from QVC. I get
the same subwoofer hum and same slight background hiss. If I disconnect
the subwoofer the sound is fine but on playback I still have the slight
hiss and without the subwoofer, not enough bass.
I recorded from another TV without a seperate surround system and it
recorded perfectly.
Anyone have an idea what is causing the hum in the subwoofer?
I am not really inclined electronically, and don't unterstand the terms,
but I followed the manufactures instructions and I did hook the entire
system up and it worked perfectly the first time, until the latest
LiteOns.
Thanks
Don
