I just rendered a clip with two passes that was especially bad with
one pass. It would freeze frames but the audio would continue, leaving
silence at the end when the frames unfroze to let the video continue.

It is clear that MF4 has some very serious problems. This should not
be surprising since Ulead is a Taiwanese company, and the Taiwanese
are notorious for putting buggy software on the US market. I recall,
for example, how it took literally 3 years for Linksys to get their
NAT router (BEFSR41) working correctly. I was a beta tester for them
at that time and I know the problems they were having. Apparently the
Taiwanese do not have a good beta test group, so they use US
customers. I thought only Microsoft had the gall to do that, but
 apparently not.

Based on the extent of the bugs I have discovered in just a few days
of using MF4, which include several errors in the User's Manual, I
figure it will be a couple years before NF4 works properly.

So I ask again - what is available that does work properly?
