Do a full POST to see if your BIOS recognizes the drive. Put it as
secondary master if not. Don't do anything to it while the BIOS is
trying to recognize it. The BIOS should be set on Auto detect.

If the BIOS does recognize it, then go into Windows Add/Remove Devices
(display hidden drivers) and get rid of all optical device drivers.
Then reboot to see if Windows installed a new one.

You should make a clone of your boot disk before attempting such
operations.
