OK, I installed VideoReDo Plus trial and I am wondering if I have to
import the content before I use Quickstream, or can I use it right
away and avoid having to import to the main application?

When VideoReDo first opens, I can go to Tools and start Quickstream
before I do anything. It will build an MPG on disk, presumably
 corrected.

I can then import that file into MovieFactory. I asks me to hold down
the Shift key to take advantage of "pre-processing" information,
 presumably put down by Quickstream.

I tried all that and the result of the edited video is the same as if
 I did not use Quickstream.

I have never seen such a screwed up mess as DVD editing. I was active
in something far more complex, namely computer graphics animation back
in the early days of Industrial Light and Magic. I ran Wave Front on a
Silicon Graphics 4D120 and we never had these kinds of problems.

What freaks me out is that this problem infects all the programs. It's
as if there is something intrinsically wrong going on.

There is every chance that the problem I am experiencing is caused by
ripping from a DVD I made from an original DVD movie using DVD Shrink
to compress it to fit a single sided disc. I lent the original out and
am now waiting to get it back so I can test this using the original
which presumably is more amenable to the kinds of things that MF4 is
 trying to do.
