Since the OP is asking about video on DVD I have not given an answer
about RLE encoded storage of text data or any number of ways of
compressing data to DVD.

In my experiance with the products I typically use at the standard
settings for burning an NTSC video you get about 2 hours. Less if you
start adding complex menus.

The box I use for VHS to DVD transfer has two allowed settings. One
gives approx 2 hours the other about 6 hours of lower quality in SLP
mode.

I do not know if the integrated box that is specified has the option to
change the recording mode.

The support for that particular recorder will answer the question for
the OP.
