When it comes down to it, if you make a copy of a CD or DVD you own and
put it on your computer, or iPod or whatever, no one is going to come
after you. It's yours. You paid for it. Do what you want with it. If
you make it available on the internet to other people, that's another story.
Sony's philosophy is flawed. They put this "rootkit" on their CD's to
hinder use on computers. Um...the people buying the CD's are not the
problem! They paid for it! The music industry is still making the
majority of $$$ from CD sales (with a much bigger markup than iTunes,
Napster,etc..) Why punish or limit the people who actually paid for it?
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU WANT TO SUPPORT!!! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU
WANT TO KEEP COMING BACK!! WHY ARE YOU SCREWING THEM?
Unfucking believeable!
The sooner the industry dies and music makers just sell their own
products to the public directly the better.
