Recently I had a case of my E85 locking up while trying to
write to a DVD-ram. I upgraded the firmware in my unit and
that problem went away. As a side effect, the new firmware
fully enables the TV Guide functions which never worked on
my unit. I find the TVG functions very useful, so I suggest
that if you have an older E85 you should upgrade. Get it
