The Benq is good - used internally.
I use an NEC 4550. Can't speak for the LG, ever considered the Pioneer 110?

Pioneer 110/NEC good here. Benq a bit fussy

Well, it depends on speed. They'll all make noise the higher the speed.
Pioneer do have the quietdrive facility on the retail models.

You don't need drivers, unless using non-XP/2000. NEC do have QSuite2

They're all compatible.
cdfreaks.com recently did a poll which put the Benq at the top, with the NEC
afterward. Bob will disagree. Anyway. All are great drives, you can't really
go wrong with any of them.
