So you are going to argue with the definition of the word or what the
term branded means re discs? Of course as time goes on words change
and you may have found folks starting to use the word to mean a make,
whether marked or not. Personally as I keep seeing notices warning
that there are fraudulent versions of stuff like TY then I'd prefer
something to show what I'm buying.

BTW, yes, I know all you folks who have been using dvdr etc since
conception have your own way of telling what's what but at least half
the time you're talking to laymen, including me, and I for one find
the whole thing confusing. To have a lot of people cheerfully saying
something works then to have one person saying not only it doesn't
work but only he knows what is best is hardly going to instil
confidence in that person.

Me? I'll take the branded or buy from a stockist I trust.

The dictionary definition of branded is just that, a dictionary
definition, and I abide by it until it is updated.
