No wonder you are having problems. Have you checked out the CDFreaks
subforum on media quality?
Recently market pressures have given most manufacturers sufficient
incentive to dump bad lots on the consuming public at cheap prices.
The idea is that even if you have 25% coasters, it is cheaper because
prices are significantly lower. Ritek is notorious for doing this.
Even Verbatim Mitsubishi has been caught doing it.
The only disc at the moment you can really trust to be consistent high
quality is Tiayo Yuden Made In Japan branded Taiyo Yuden. Some people
have had good luck with Fuji and a few other rebranded TYs, but you
never know when TY is going to succumb to market pressures and dump
their bad lots off onto the rebrands.
You can get genuine TY-brand discs at rima.com, supermediastore.com
and cdrdvdrmedia.com. The main issue is longevity, and the +Rs which I
use with my NEC 3540 have the Azo-metal dye technology which is
designed for longevity.
