Those were average values, so they are possible. Most of the DVDs I
have burnt have been with modded firmware and KProbe2 shows the
results are of high quality.

Give us some URLs. Off course, if you are overclocking media, what
would you expect? If the mod was just a conversion to RPC1 how could
that affect burns?
