If you load the VOB into Virtualdubmepg2, what do you get under File->File
Informatons?
I assume your VOB includes AC3 audio and you do not have installed an
AC3codec.
If the problem comes from AC3 then download the codec from:
http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/index.html
