It could indicate DMA in the BIOS but the OS could be running PIO
mode. If you get some slowness on a drive that is normally fast -
and the slowness could be any temporary hiccup in the OS - then
the OS can set the drivers to PIO even though the BIOS shows DMA.

You have to delete the device, and then reboot, and the OS will say
it finds new hardware, will set the DMA mode, and then you reboot
to use it. A real PITA.
