Well, I purchased another 4700 used. However it does not want to play
burned disks. I either get a disk error or it freezes up.
I have tried dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw.
Now here is where it gets strange. While most disks did not play, one
played fine. (dvd+rw).
I used the same brand disks recorded on the same stand alone machine one
week appart.
One plays fine, and one does not.
Ok here is more to ponder.
My old 4700 was manufactured on october 2001. It plays everything fine.
This other pawn shop machine was manufactured in july of 2001.
I wonder if there was a firmware update between the two? Or is it just
a touchy machine? I believe I can get the factory firmware update,
but I would hate to get it and find out that all I need is adjustments.
TIA, mes.
