because the DVD drive and reader are mechanical devices there can be
minor variations in the positioning of the head.
The unit that created the disc is the most likely to read it correctly
because of those minor differences. Other units may have problems
particularly in the inner area of the disc.
I find you get a better burn when burning at a lower speed. So I would
burn discs marked 8x at 6x or 4x whatever your burner allows.
One thing that MAY impact your burning is the temperature of the
computer and disks. All should be at a temp between 60 and 80 degrees
F.
It may also be time to clean your burner lens.
