As you know the SCR is the master clock which synchronizes playback
with the authoring machine. I have found that the SCR is reset
backwards on several different brands of DVR, including Panasonic,
when recording on DVD-RAM. The fiddling with the SCR doesn't affect
playback, but I wonder why it is done. It need not be reset at all.
The way the SCR is set is even more mystifying: there is no reset
for something like the first hour of recording, then it is reset
something like 7,000 times in the next hour.
Any guess about why the machines might do this?
