Your problems are dowstream of Shrink.
Export the VIDEO_TS directory to your HD with Shrink and play it with
WinDVD. That way you can test it.

As mentioned, your problem is likely with the Sony. What model NEC?
What kind of discs are you burning? We need the brand, DVD type, MID
(aka "media code"), Country of Origin, rated MAX burn speed and the
speed you are burning at.
