I am thinking of purchasing a DVD recorder and I am a novice to the
technology.
I did purchase one or perhaps I should say my sister purchased it for me, I
gave her the money for it and she got one for me.
However I seemed to have a problem setting it up.
For some reason when trying to tune it in to record from TV all I seemed to
get was the static noise you get when tuning in TVs.
Also because I have a Sky digital box I had to disconnect the unit because
it kept fliping from the TV to DVD, meaning if I was trying to watch
something on Sky, I would hear a few seconds of dialogue and then it would
flip over to the DVD recorder.
My sister has tried to tune in the DVD recorder, for some reason it did work
once on my previous TV but when I bought a new TV which doesn't have a video
recorder combined with it, it did work once although I couldn't use the
video recorder.
I thought my problem would have been resolved with the purchase of my new TV
but the problem was still there so I had to give my DVD recorder to my
sister because she doesn't have Sky.
Could anyone suggest any models which work with Sky equipment because it is
doing my wick and contacting Sky about this problem is a complete waste of
time as when I discussed it with them, they said they could only look at the
box and that there suggestion was to remove the DVD recorder to see if there
was a problem with the box which there isn't.
God knows how people who are novices to these things will cope when video
recorders are discontinued if Sky boxes don't work with these things plus
there are people with disabilities who I believe are going to have real
problems. I happen to be Disabled myself as I am Totally BlinD.
The only difference is that I am keen on technology unlike some but it is
still frustrating even for me sometimes.
I have a friend who is quite a techie when it comes to things like equipment
because he deals with stuff like computer installations if people have
problems with their PCs and like myself he is Blind as well and he says
there has been no thought put into accessability of these things and that he
believes it may be a bit too late.
I tried another newsgroup only nobody has got back to me on this matter.
