I can't say for certain BJ, but thanks for looking into it. The problem
is, most DVD's don't just stop when they're through ... they return to
the Menu which means the disc remains in play mode (spinning inside the
deck) until someone pushes the STOP button manually.

I'm in search of a deck that will automatically stop the DVD after a
certain time and shut the deck off simultaneously.

It's possible the Panasonic model you cited does this, but I'd have to
get one here and try it out to know for sure, and that means buying one
blindly.

Who knows, maybe they just don't make them that way, or there isn't
enough consumer demand for it. Perhaps it's a high-end feature on a
recorder ... I'll just have to explore a little further. I figured this
group would be a good place to begin.

You see, I like to fall asleep to an episode of Columbo, or some other
great show I have on DVD. I can set the sleep timer to turn the TV off,
but I really don't like the idea of the disc remaining in play mode all
night long, and that's why the feature is important to me.

I've even considered placing a digital timer at the power source, which
would accomplish the same thing, and it looks like I may end-up doing
that. Until I do, I can only take advantage of the Auto-Off feature on
the SLV-D300P with VHS tapes.
