**What will be the primary function of the recorder? If you intend to 
archive a lot of stuff from VHS then I suggest the Panasonic. I have 
Panasonic e85 and I don't feel that it's very noisy but, yea, it is a 
different model.  
 
On the flip side, I don't use the TVGuide that came with it because it 
made the machine screw up terribly. It's worked fine ever since I 
managed to shut it off completely, so I love it again :)
